Specific aftercare instructions for dermals
- Touch the dermal as little as possible with your hands.
- Wash the area around the dermal twice a day with Unicura soap and lukewarm water. This can be done for the first 2 weeks, but may of course be longer.
- Dab the area around the dermal with a tissue after washing.
- Keep the dermal dry as much as possible after washing.
- Do not put ointment, Vaseline or anything similar on the dermal.
- Do not drip wound disinfectants such as Sterilon or Betadine on the dermal.
- Wear a band-aid over the dermal at night. This is only necessary for the first week.
- For the first few weeks, wear a band-aid during sports activities.
- Make sure your clothing does not go past the dermal. If the garment just sits over it or not at all, it is fine. In any case, make sure the fringe does not keep going past it, which can cause the dermal to fall out.
- During the healing process, avoid contact with swimming water (chlorinated pools, hot tubs, natural swimming water). Also, do not use a steam bath.
- The dermal takes 2 to 4 months to heal. It varies from person to person. Do always keep an eye on the dermal. It can always be rejected by your body.
- After 2 months the stone can be replaced.
- Have you lost the stone and is there nothing left on it? Then put something back on as soon as possible. It can happen that your skin grows over it.
- Are you tired of it and do you want it out? Contact your doctor to have it removed.
